Shining a Light on Mental Health & Community Support at Aquinas

On Friday 9th October, the Aquinas Grammar School community came together to celebrate World Mental Health Day, dressing in vibrant yellow to show solidarity with all those affected by mental ill health. The sea of yellow across our corridors was a powerful visual reminder that no one has to walk through difficult times alone. Supporting one another and looking after our mental wellbeing remain at the heart of our school ethos.

In keeping with our commitment to empathy and action, we also officially launched our annual Shoe Box Appeal in aid of The Welcome Centre Belfast.

This year, we are focusing our efforts on supporting homeless individuals across Belfast by collecting essential toiletries. We encourage all pupils, staff, and families to contribute new and unopened items to help make a tangible difference in our local community.

Suggested Donation Items:

  • Shower gels, shampoos, and conditioners
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Deodorants and body sprays
  • Sanitary products
  • Soaps, hand sanitisers, and moisturisers

Thank you to every pupil and staff member who wore yellow, shared a kind word, or contributed to our community initiatives. Let’s keep the momentum going, please bring your donated toiletries to your form tutors by Monday 19th October 2026.

Together, we can continue to support mental wellbeing and bring warmth and comfort to those in need across Belfast.
